EDGE Institute
Empowering the Development of Grant Excellence in Community Colleges
EDGE Institute is a FREE, 12-month (January 2026-January 2027) opportunity for community college faculty, adjuncts, staff, and administrators to benefit from professional development and support as they develop and submit competitive grant proposals for projects focused on AI, machine learning, quantum computing, or biotech and submit them to the NSF CISE Future CoRe solicitation. EDGE Institute will support up to 30 Project Teams.
Supports include: 1-on-1 mentoring, online workshops and coaching, a digital library of templates and other resources, and a 3-day in-person Lab.

Participant Timeline: January 5, 2026-January 31, 2027.
EDGE Institute will support 30 community college Project Teams as they design, generate, and submit a proposal to the NSF CISE Future CoRe solicitation for a project focused on AI, machine learning, quantum computing, or biotech.
EDGE Institute will provide the following support to each community college Project Team:-
1-on-1 mentoring from a grant professional to help your team ideate, craft, and edit your proposal’s narrative;

Asynchronous learning modules in key knowledge/skills such as: Project Roles, Goals & Objectives, Logic Models, Budgets, Merit Review Criteria;

Office Hours for additional support;

Live, working webinar sessions such as: Decoding your RFP, Research/Evaluation Questions, Building your Budget Justification, and
-
In-Person Lab June 3-6, 2026: with speakers, hands-on workshops, in-person coaching, cohort networking (travel expenses paid*)
*NOTE: At this time, EDGE Institute can support only one team member per Project Team at the in-person Lab. EDGE Leadership is actively investigating opportunities for expanding that capacity.

Participant Timeline: January 5, 2026-January 31, 2027
Project Teams will have one Lead Participant and may include others who bring additional expertise. Each Lead Participant must be a faculty member, administrator, staff, or adjunct from the community college. Other team members are at the discretion of the Lead Participant.
Project Team Objective: develop, create, and submit a proposal to the NSF CISE Future CoRE solicitation for a project focused on AI, machine learning, quantum computing, or biotech.Each Project Team will commit to the following activities to accomplish the objective:

Attend and participate in the Onboarding Webinar on January 5, 2026 (full project team)

Watch all Video Modules (full Project Team) and complete related assignments (required for appropriate team member; optional for others) (January 15-December 18, 2026)

Participate in Working Webinar sessions (February 2-December 18, 2026) (appropriate team members based on areas of expertise)

Work with assigned Mentor for 1-on-1 learning (appropriate team members based on areas of expertise)

Utilize office hours as needed (available to all team members)

Attend in-person Lab June 3-6, 2026 (travel expenses paid*)
