Our Stories

Expanding Access to STEM Funding
The National Science Foundation has long been committed to broadening participation in STEM grants, ensuring that colleges of every size can tap into critical funding. But for many small and rural institutions, limited staff and resources can make navigating federal opportunities feel out of reach.
That’s where Trivium Consulting was able to provide practical support. Partnering with NSF, we designed and delivered a series of virtual and in-person workshops to help community colleges and rural four-year institutions build confidence and capacity around a major funding solicitation.
Over the course of these sessions, we engaged 30 potential applicants, answering questions, clarifying requirements, and sharing practical tools for writing strong proposals. An independent evaluation later confirmed what we witnessed firsthand: 90% of participants strongly agreed the experience helped them understand what it takes to develop a successful grant application.
By working together, we’re helping more institutions bring transformative STEM programs to the students and communities who need them most.

Building Rural Pathways into Computer Science Careers
An international corporate foundation set out to strengthen rural communities by creating new pathways into STEM-focused careers. Their vision was clear: help small colleges and nonprofits prepare residents for the digital economy, supporting not only the rise of AI data centers but also the many traditional professions growing more reliant on technology.
When they partnered with Trivium Consulting, we started with listening. We spent time understanding their goals, exploring the strengths and challenges of the communities they serve, and mapping out practical steps to turn big ideas into action. Together, we brainstormed proposal concepts, crafted clear, compelling grant applications, and guided each organization through the submission process with confidence.
Since 2020, this collaboration has brought in more than $18 million in funding from the Department of Commerce, Department of Labor, and National Science Foundation—resources now fueling education and workforce programs across rural America.
